Support The Library
Your support is always appreciated. There are many ways to help. You may give a gift, donate items, or join the Friends group. Questions? Ask us.
Gifts are often the only way that the library can add new services or types of materials, upgrade our equipment, and make improvements to our historic building. Recently, an outdoor message sign was added as a result of donations.
Give Memorial or Honor Gifts
Giving a gift to the library to purchase books or other materials is a way to remember a friend or relative and celebrate events such as birthdays, anniversaries, or graduations. Gifts are tax deductible.
Books can be selected in subjects of interest to the person honored. A bookplate may be placed in the item to name the person honored. An acknowledgment card is mailed to the honoree or the family of the person memorialized.
Donate Materials
The library accepts donations of new, like-new, and used books, DVDs, and audiobooks on CD. Items may be added to the library’s collection, space permitting, if they are in good condition and meet the same standards as purchased materials. Materials not added to the collection are usually placed in our book sales.
Library staff cannot appraise the value of donated items. A receipt describing the number and types of materials will be provided if requested at the time of donation.
Our annual sale is usually in August; a small sale of like-new books is held before Christmas. Donations for our sales are accepted throughout the year, as our storage space allows. All proceeds from our book sales support library services.
The library will not accept the following items for the collection or the sale:
- Encyclopedia sets
- VHS videos and audiobooks on cassette
- Items that are incomplete or in unusable condition: moldy, missing disks, loose or missing pages or covers, dirty/very dusty/buggy, heavily highlighted or written in
- Condensed books
- Magazines
- Textbooks of any age
